Wheat Bulls Back to Stronger Trade as Black Sea Back and Forth Continues

Wheat is trading with double digit gains early on Friday, following European futures strength from overnight. The wheat complex fell back lower on Thursday, slipping into the close. Chicago SRW contracts were steady to 2 ¼ cents in the red. Open interest was up 10,313 contracts on Thursday. KC HRW futures saw fractional to 3 cent losses across most contracts at the close. MPLS spring wheat saw weaker front month action, down 3 ¼ to 4 ¼ cents in the nearbys.

Early on Thursday morning Ukraine proposed a truce with Russia to stop attacking civilian targets on the Black Sea. Russia has reportedly rejected the offer.

Weekly Export Sales data from this morning showed net sales of 255,931 MT, which was in the middle of the trade ideas for between 200,000 and 500,000 MT in 2026/27 sales in the week of 8/6. That was the second lowest total for the marketing year and down 64.59% from the same week last year. Mexico was the top buyer of 101,100 MT, with 87,700 MT sold to South Korea.

Taiwan flour mills purchased a total of 97,200 MT of wheat in a tender from the US overnight.

Dec 26 CBOT Wheat closed at $6.68 1/4, down 1 1/2 cents, currently up 11 1/4 cents

Sep 26 KCBT Wheat closed at $7.20 1/2, down 1/4 cent, currently up 12 3/4 cents

Dec 26 KCBT Wheat closed at $7.34 3/4, down 3 cents, currently up 12 3/4 cents

Sep 26 MIAX Wheat closed at $6.69 1/4, down 3 3/4 cents, currently up 8 1/4 cents

Dec 26 MIAX Wheat closed at $6.94 3/4, down 4 1/4 cents, currently up 9 cents
