Top Seven Altcoins For September 2026

The crypto market is heading into September with one major event on traders’ radar: the September 15 Senate vote on the Crypto Clarity Act. The Altcoin Daily analyst believes the bill could become one of the biggest bipartisan crypto laws in the US. If it moves forward, he expects crypto projects closely connected to Wall Street, institutional adoption and real-world financial infrastructure to benefit.

Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum remains one of the main crypto assets attracting institutional interest, mainly because of its role in DeFi, stablecoins and tokenized assets. Clearer U.S. crypto rules may make it easier for banks and financial firms to enter the space. Meanwhile, Ethereum ETFs recently recorded $179.8 million in inflows, including $146.44 million from BlackRock, showing continued institutional activity around ETH.

Solana (SOL)

Solana comes next on the list. Its appeal comes from fast transactions, low fees and growing activity across DeFi, payments and consumer applications.

On-chain data shows that Solana saw record activity in July, with 4.2 billion transactions, up 13.5% from the previous month. SOL also jumped 40% in eight days, while growing tokenized assets and platforms like Jupiter helped drive more activity.

Chainlink (LINK)

Chainlink offers a different angle. Its technology connects blockchains with outside data and traditional financial systems. That becomes increasingly important as Wall Street moves toward tokenized stocks, funds, bonds and other real-world assets.

Spot LINK ETFs are seeing strong demand, with an 8-day inflow streak, their longest so far. They attracted $18.27 million in August, the highest monthly inflow since launch, and now hold around 2.05% of LINK’s total supply, showing growing investor interest in Chainlink.

If institutional blockchain adoption keeps accelerating, Chainlink is expected to benefit from the infrastructure needed to connect those assets to on-chain markets.

Zcash (ZEC)

Zcash is the privacy-focused pick. Grayscale Head of Capital Markets Christa Lynch recently described Zcash as a way to diversify beyond Bitcoin. ZEC shares some characteristics with Bitcoin, including a capped supply and proof-of-work model, but adds optional privacy through its shielded pool technology.

Lynch noted privacy may become even more valuable in the age of AI, where investors are becoming more aware of how much personal and financial information is exposed online. That gives Zcash a different investment story from traditional altcoins. The CFTC has also certified a Zcash US dollar spot contract, showing that ZEC is already appearing within regulated US derivatives infrastructure.

Hyperliquid (HYPE)

Hyperliquid has seen on-going activity in DeFi perpetual futures trading, with more than $114 billion in August trading volume and over $5 trillion in total perpetual volume. Monthly protocol fees are around $50 million. The main development now is regulation, after President Trump said the CFTC is working on a way for Hyperliquid to operate legally in the U.S. If approved, it would give the platform a clearer path into the U.S. market and could be part of a broader shift toward regulated crypto trading.

XRP

XRP is the payments and institutional adoption play. Its biggest advantage in this thesis is not just the technology but its huge retail community and long-running focus on cross-border payments. If the Clarity Act reduces regulatory uncertainty around major crypto assets, XRP possibly attracts renewed attention from both retail traders and institutions.

The CFTC has already certified an XRP US dollar spot contract, giving the token another connection to regulated US market infrastructure. Spot XRP ETFs had their strongest day in months, bringing in $23.87 million on August 25.

Ondo (ONDO)

Ondo is the tokenization bet. Its main narrative is bringing traditional financial assets onto blockchain rails. That puts ONDO directly in the middle of the Wall Street-to-crypto trend the analyst expects to accelerate if US regulation becomes clearer.

Ondo is seeing strong growth in user activity. Its weekly active addresses have increased from around 5,000–6,000 last year to about 22,000 now, even reaching a record 64,000+ in January. The growing interest in real-world assets (RWAs) is also helping drive optimism around ONDO. Moreover, Ondo’s Open interest has also passed $100 million, showing that more capital is entering the platform.
