Gain Posts Narrower Loss In Q2; Phase 1b Data For Rexaceract Due In Q4 2026

· Nasdaq Market Structure

(RTTNews) - Gain Therapeutics, Inc. (GANX), a clinical-stage biotech company, reported a narrower second quarter loss due to lower operating expenses, higher interest income and a foreign exchange gain.

Company Profile Gain is focused on developing a next-generation allosteric small-molecule therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, lysosomal storage disorders, metabolic diseases and oncology. Its lead candidate, Rexaceract, is an oral, brain-penetrant glucocerebrosidase (GCase) modulator being developed for Parkinson's disease.

The company's Magellan platform uses AI-supported structural biology, physics-based modeling and supercomputing to discover novel allosteric binding sites and develop new therapeutic candidates.

For the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, loss marginally narrowed to $4.67 million, or $0.11 per share from $5.81 million, or $0.19 per share in the prior year.

Operating expenses decreased to $4.68 million for the second quarter compared to $5.09 million a year ago. The 8% reduction was driven by lower research and development (R&D) expenses, including reduced costs associated with the lead program and pipeline optimization, as well as lower R&D personnel expenses.

Interest income for Q2 2026 was $61.06 million, higher than $42.57 million in Q2 2025.

The company recorded a foreign exchange gain of $49.09 million in the second quarter, compared to a loss of $620.92 million a year ago.

Cash and cash equivalents as of June 30, 2026, amounted to $13.08 million.

In the second quarter, Phase 1b data for rexaceract showed sustained Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) scores after 150 days of treatment. Participants with elevated baseline cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) glucosylsphingosine (GluSph) levels had a 4.8-point advantage in combined MDS-UPDRS Part II and III scores versus those with lower levels, supporting the drug's potential disease-modifying effect in Parkinson's disease.

GT-04686 demonstrated positive preclinical results in Parkinson's disease animal models and is advancing the program toward an IND submission, with the initial therapeutic indication expected to be selected by the fourth quarter of 2026.

On June 29, 2026, the U.S. FDA cleared the IND application for rexaceract, paving the way for Phase 2 development in Parkinson's disease.

On July 16, 2026, Gain Therapeutics promoted Joanne Taylor as Chief Scientific Officer and Terenzio Ignoni as Chief Operating Officer, strengthening its scientific leadership and operational execution.

The company expects to initiate a Phase 2 trial for rexaceract in patients with Parkinson's diseases by the third quarter of 2026.

The final results from the Phase 1b study for rexaceract is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Gain shares have traded between $1.53 and $4.34 over the last year.

GANX closed Friday (14.08.2026) at $2.12, down 2.08%. In the after-hours trade, the stock is up 2.97% at $2.18.
