The U.S. war with Iran will end immediately after the U.S. election in November. U.S. President Donald Trump made this statement to reporters.
“I think the war will end right after the election,” said the U.S. president (as quoted by Clash Report).
Trump also stated that the U.S. is not currently seeking negotiations with Iran, although he did not rule out the possibility of such talks in the future. “Negotiations may take place, but we are not seeking them right now,” he noted.
According to the U.S. leader, any potential agreements with Tehran should address more than just the nuclear program. Trump stated that the nuclear issue will be 99.9% certain to be part of a potential deal, but other topics could also be brought up for discussion.
The U.S. president also accused Iran of attempting to influence the U.S. elections. He claimed that Tehran is counting on weaker politicians coming to power who would allow it to acquire nuclear weapons.
The U.S. congressional elections will take place on November 3. The entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate will be up for reelection.
Fox News, citing a source, reported on the evening of September 8 that the U.S. military had struck targets near the island of Khark and the city of Jask. The targets included Iranian oil tankers.
On August 31, Trump stated that the U.S. would launch a “powerful strike” against Iran. The following day, U.S. Central Command announced the launch of powerful strikes against facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran.
